ORIGIN STORY: REBEL NYX

My core has been hard-wired for the collecting since the early 90's. It started with the small stuff: Cabbage Patch Dolls (pictured Winston & Daisy), the clink of Marbles, the slam of Pogs, and the mystery of Kinder Egg Surprise capsules. By the time Pokémon hit (WotC era), the obsession was full blown; scouring variety store shelves, ripping packs and hoping to land the Zard! It was at this point I became NYX THE COLLECTOR.

tragedy strikes

At 8 years old my LEGO collection was involved in a freak-accident-garage-fire turned house-fire. Met with the hard decision of either save my LEGO or helping my little brother get out of the house, I did what any older sibling would do- leaving my beloved LEGO for the flames. GONE was all my LEGO including my all-time favorite set LEGO 6335 Indy Transport!

As I grew up, the passion of collecting faded away with the pressures to be an adult, go to school, find a job (YUCK!). Until one day, I discovered my other collections that had been buried away for decades! I was surprised that these collectibles stood the test of time-Like a bunker of salvation during an adam-bomb detonation.

THE START OF SOMETHING BIG!

This re-ignited my passion and being an adult I could finally buy those huge LEGO sets that I only could dream about as a kid! The first sets I bought resurging the thrill of collecting were LEGO 10937 Batman Arkham Asylum Breakout & LEGO 10236 Ewok Village UCS (psst... rumor has it LEGO is releasing a new Ewok Village soon!).

Over the next decade I continued my LEGO collecting (those GWP's really hook you in!) and got back into Pokémon and Garbage Pail Kids - naturally, due to my childhood love for Cabbage Patch Kids!

Getting to share my collecting passion with my family has been a BLAST! Our self-proclaimed "Poke Fam" loves celebrating Pokémon Day - gathering around and ripping packs and cheering with excitement when we pull fire! We also love watching Deep Pocket Monster videos together- thanks to Pat and his teachings on bad binder behaviour, your future cards are well taken care of!

It's been a DREAM to be able to open a hobby card shop where I can share all the things I deeply love and the THRILL of COLLECTING!

What sets us apart- we hope you can get a sense of all the care we put into our tiny closet hobby shop! We put a lot of care and time into taking product pictures, writing descriptions and adding in personal connection to make this shop more than just a store.
